About The Course:

Building on our long tradition of creativity here at Old Chapel Music, we are pleased to announce the development of a series of workshops, tutorials, networks, and events aimed at those of you who want to have a go at, get better at, or simply enjoy the song writing process. Our Song Writing Catalyst course will introduce you to the core principals of song writing and is led by George Fayle, front man of The Loose Cut who have recently enjoyed BBC 6 Radio play and a UK tour along with the Bluetones.

  • Learn from professional guidance.
  • Understand how to overcome common song writing obstacles.
  • Breakdown popular hits to learn what makes a song great.
  • Meet fellow Leeds-based songwriters to grow your network and develop your collaborative skills.
  • Receive 1 on 1 feedback and tailored guidance for your music.

We have space for a maximum of 12 people, on a first come first serve basis and to include one bursary-funded place.

The main aims of the program are:

  • For you get professional guidance to help you make higher quality music and more of it
  • Getting to meet like-minded people and build strong networks
  • Having a fabulous, fun, and creative time in a relaxed and creative environment.

Extra information:

We are fully wheelchair accessible, including the toilet. We have a well-stocked tuck shop and kitchen area with a microwave, fridge, fresh coffee machine, and kettle. Each studio has air-con and heaters for your comfort.

Tables and chairs will be in the room for comfort. We will have Tea, coffee, water, notepads, pens & instruments. The instruments in the studio room are 1 keyboard, 1 acoustic guitar, 1 bass guitar, 1 electric guitar, and a microphone plugged into the PA system. All you need to bring is yourself.

And not forgetting YOU as it is important to recognize everyone will approach creativity differently, have different barriers and opportunities, will have a different reason for doing it, and a different idea of what successful writing might be. We give you the time and space to explore this for yourself and, if you wish, with everyone else.
